A Nation Once Again
by taliesin
"A Nation Once Again" is a song, written in the early to mid-1840s by Thomas Osborne Davis (1814-1845). Davis was a founder of an Irish movement whose aim was the independence of Ireland.
The song is a prime example of the "Irish rebel music" sub-genre. The song's narrator dreams of a time when Ireland will be, as the title suggests, a free land, with "our fetters rent in twain."
The lyrics exhort Irishmen to stand up and fight for their land: "And righteous men must make our land a nation once again."
It has been recorded by many Irish singers and groups. Here is a few of my favourite versions of the song.

Its diferent from the normal Irish anthem because the Irish National Rugby team have players from both North Ireland and Ireland. When is someone going to tell the British to f. off out of Ireland anyway? Before I get too political.. Here's the song...

OK, I started getting hate mail.
Whats with all this Celtic music you ask. Where is the tub thumbing, ball busting, in your face, downright queer music?
Soooo, I decided that this week I'l put up a few Queer anthems for your perusal.
Needless to say, this is my selection so if you've got any more suggestions, feel free to let me know. In the mean time... What do you think of these?
