Over at the UN the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association's World Board has passed a new Gender Identity and Gender Expression Strategy to engage with its work within the United Nations.
The strategy is based on publications and reports on trans human rights and is designed to be used as an advocacy tool.
“The aim is through collaboration, engagement and support with other organisations, strategically and systematically engage various aspects of the UN, such as the Human Rights Council, Treaty Bodies, Universal Periodic Review, Special Procedures, the World Health Organisation, UNAIDS, and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, to advance Trans human rights.”
ILGA has plans to do advocacy work where needed, supporting national governments to cooperate with local trans organisations.
